Growing
We grow in small groups - doing life together
Jesus lived his life in ministry in a small group of close friends, who traveled together, ate meals together, prayed and worshipped together, studied and grew together, and who did ministry for others together. They knew each other, loved each other, celebrated each other – shared the joys of life together, and, in the end, comforted each other when he was gone. When the Spirit came, they received it together and were commissioned to carry on his mission together.
The new communities of believers that started in Acts 2, spread across the continent, and eventually evolved into the church, were groups of followers who continued doing life together: connecting, worshipping, growing, serving, sharing and supporting each other as they lived out discipleship together.
Today, at Lord of Life, we believe the life transformation all disciples yearn to experience happens best in small groups of friends doing life together. As we receive the encouragement, support, and accountability we need, from people we know and love, we all grow deeper in love with Jesus and closer to one another, and develop a heart for those outside our community of faith.
Our hope is that everyone that calls Lord of Life their church home will find a group of friends with whom to walk their discipleship path. We know that you may have to step out of your comfort zone – we pray for courage. We know you may need to try more than one group to find your group – we pray for persistence. We know it may begin as a burden, hard to fit into your calendar, your priorities, your emotional energy—we pray for desire. We know that while you may start thinking about what this will cost you, we believe you will come to know the presence of God and you will receive more than you can ever imagine – so we pray for blessings.
And we pray that when you enter a group where the love of Jesus is felt and share, where you are known, loved and celebrated, you’ll always be glad you came!
